Care for the environment is one of the key pillars of Raben Group's sustainable development strategy, next to its impact on the society. For years, the company has also focused on environmental education among its employees and children. Out of concern for the climate, the company has decided to join the EkoEksperymentarium program and educate children about sustainable transport. The project is just getting started.
How do you explain carbon footprint to children? Just play at EkoEksperymentarium.pl. A new puzzle room in a free educational game about ecology will present the topic in an accessible way. The game, which was created together with environmental educators, includes a range of information on how to travel sensibly, buy less, and how to make the best use of heat and sunlight. Last semester the project was warmly received by children, parents and teachers alike. Several hundred thousand people have already played EkoEksperymentarium and now the program is coming back adapted to conduct lessons at school on interactive boards and monitors. This time with a new partner and co-creator of another room - Raben Group.
“The goal of EkoEksperymentarium is to learn through fun. The game reinforces green habits and helps transfer them from the virtual to the real world. We are very happy that EkoEksperymentarium is developing and we can talk to children about new important topics related to ecology. The Rose’s Room is a portion of knowledge about the carbon footprint and Raben Group supported us in sustainable transport issues. Together, we show how to travel so as to minimise the negative impact on the Planet.” - says Małgosia Żmijska of the Mamy Projekt collective.
In line with its sustainable development strategy, Raben Group is engaged in a number of activities for the benefit of the society and it is also very committed to ecology and education. Joining EkoEksperymentarium is the next natural step for the company on its way to achieving its sustainability goals.
“Since 2012, we have been conducting educational activities for children regarding road safety and the role of transport. Transport is necessary but it is also currently one of the main drivers of climate change. As a company, we face this challenge and strive for an environmentally friendly transformation. We also care about education, so we are very happy to be part of EkoEksperymentarium which perfectly complements our existing approach, strengthens our educational activities and contributes to the implementation of the company's strategic objectives. The tool also perfectly fits the current pandemic reality where digital solutions are playing an increasingly important role.” – explains Jakub Krzewina, Group Sustainability Manager, Raben Group
Ecology is of great importance for Raben. By conserving natural resources, measuring, reporting and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the company strives to act for the common good - for the future. The company wants the next generations to have access to the same resources we are using now. Therefore, out of concern for the environment, it gradually eliminates paper from our processes, every year invests in more efficient and environmentally friendly solutions in transport and warehouses and plants thousands of trees neutralizing tons of CO2. Raben has also contracted renewable energy for the period of 2021-2030, which significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions. The logistics operator also focuses on environmental education for its employees and their families, as well as local communities.
More about EkoEksperymetarium
EkoEksperymentarium is successful due to the combination of a gamification formula with reliable knowledge about ecology developed in cooperation with experts from the Ministry of Climate and Environment and game partners. Engaging activities teach how to conserve resources, how to segregate waste, how to clean environmentally, and what a water footprint is.
In the new Rose’s Room opened together with Raben, children will face four eco-challenges. They will help the main character to choose the most ecological means of transport depending on the needs. Bike, bus or car - what to choose when you go to see your grandma, to school or shopping? Players will also learn how to properly use a skylight and reduce fossil fuel consumption at the same time. Rose will also go to a toy fair to trade unused items with friends and will clean out her closet of unnecessary things.
EkoEksperymentarium is a program prepared with attention to the highest quality of information provided to children. The program's patron is the Ministry of Climate and Environment and experts are invited to address technical issues. Specialists from Raben supported the project in creating the latest carbon footprint game. Together with EkoEksperymentarium the company wants to help children understand what is happening with the climate and how we can take care of the Planet.
