Raben and Elcar on the common way to optimization

2024.12.03

Raben Logistics Polska has recently signed a long-term cooperation agreement with the Polish company Elcar which specialises in technologies for the logistics industry. Transport data collected from Raben vehicles in real time will give fleet managers full knowledge of the current situation and allow them to optimise the use of vehicles, thus reducing the carbon footprint.

The implementation of continuous monitoring in trailers is another step towards increasing the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of deliveries. With data collected from the entire fleet by Elcar sensors and displayed in a single panel, fleet managers will have comprehensive knowledge of the current traffic situation. The reports and analyses generated by the Elcar system allow better use to be made of the available infrastructure.

These benefits can be tangibly measured. According to a report by the research firm Frost & Sullivan, logistics companies that have implemented modern, telematics-based supply chain management tools can expect fewer delays (-15 per cent), lower fuel consumption (-20 per cent) and better fleet utilisation (+20 per cent). This can save 20-30 minutes of each driver's time per day, which translates into a 15 per cent increase in efficiency in the supply chain (source: "The Global Connected Truck Telematics Outlook").

- We have been familiar with the technologies developed by Elcar for many years, as their systems deal with temperature monitoring in cold rooms, warehouses and trailers of our sister company Fresh Logistics Polska, which specialises in the transport of fresh produce. We appreciate the experience and stability of Elcar's solutions, which is why we decided to extend the scope of cooperation also in Raben Logistics Polska - says Rafał Kukotko, Transport Manager, Raben Logistics Polska. - We hope that modern technology will also reduce CO2 emissions as better efficiency not only means savings, but also a smaller carbon footprint - he adds.

It is worth mentioning the recent joint project of Fresh Logistics and Elcar, which included the installation of radar sensors at the distribution centre in Robakowo near Poznań, which detect the presence of a semi-trailer or other vehicle at the loading ramp. There is no doubt that this is a solution that has a significant impact on improving the management and safety of warehouse and transport processes at the warehouse/transport interface.

"The Elcar Radar system supports key operations related to the unloading and loading of goods in the warehouse, such as parking the trailer at the ramp, controlling the temperature inside the trailer, monitoring the duration of unloading or loading, and uncoupling the trailer or moving it away from the ramp, among others. This technology provides us with more data and increases accuracy and reliability, resulting in better control of the entire warehouse and transport process." - Krzysztof Dybiec, Contract Logistics Manager, Fresh Logistics Polska, Raben Group

- We are pleased that the company with such a position on the market as Raben appreciates the innovation of our equipment and technology. This cooperation is also a further boost and challenge for our engineers, who have extended the operating time of the equipment and added new functions in line with the customer's expectations - says Rafał Koszewski, founder and CEO of Elcar.
