Raben is already operating in Poznań!

2024.07.05

Since the beginning of its operations in Poland, Raben has been associated with Greater Poland. First a modest start in Baranowo, then an expanded logistics center in Gadki and Robakowo. Now the time has come for the region's capital.  Thus, on July 3, 2024, there was an official opening of a new branch of Raben Logistics Polska, located in Poznań at 65 Obodrzycka Street.

An unquestionable advantage of the new warehouse, with an area of about 44,000 sqm, is its location, close to both the center of Poznań and the A2 highway. It is a modern and environmentally friendly facility with sustainable solutions, thanks to which the warehouse meets the requirements of BREEAM certification at the Excellent level, as well as FM Global's stringent sustainable construction requirements.

The warehouse is equipped with both VNA system trucks and Li-Ion trucks. 41 truck loading ramps, as well as extensive maneuvering yards and outdoor areas exclusively for Raben's use, allow for comfortable warehousing and a variety of operations, including VAS production.  A total of 200 people will find employment in the warehouse and office at Raben's Poznań branch.

With the opening of the branch in Poznan, Raben can further strengthen its presence in Greater Poland. The new point on the map of our locations is also another step in the development of the company and the region, both in terms of warehousing and city logistics." - comments Lucyna Zaborowska-Princ, Regional Director of Raben Logistics Poland.

Such investments are usually used for last-mile logistics, among other things, but in this case Raben's main goal is to develop contract logistics and warehousing services, as well as manufacturing value-added services such as co-packing and co-manufacturing.  Therefore, the warehouse has been equipped with a specialized VAS area with a total area of 700 sqm. The development of these services is, of course, related to customer needs, so the facility's infrastructure has been prepared to be able to expand these activities in the future.

All of the currently erected warehouse infrastructure has already been reserved for Mars Wrigley, a long-time partner of Raben. The plant, located in the immediate vicinity of the newly built investment, is one of the largest Mars Wrigley factories in Europe and the second largest Mars Wrigley chewing gum and mints plant in the world. Products manufactured there go to more than 40 European and global markets.

- The Poznan plant is constantly expanding in response to increasing demand for products manufactured there. These include brands such as Orbit®, Winterfresh® and Airwaves®. As the factory's operations grow, we also need a larger and more modern warehouse space. With modern infrastructure, we will be able to ensure that the quality of our raw materials and packaging used in production is consistent with strict expectations. The use of the new warehouse is also part of our ambitious sustainability plan to achieve greenhouse gas (GHG) emission neutrality across the value chain by 2050. Reducing the distance between the factory and the external warehouse by almost 95% will dramatically reduce the carbon footprint resulting from transportation between the two points, while reducing CO2 generation by as much as 120 tons per year. We will also gain the ability to switch from fossil fuels (diesel) to electrically powered transportation between the factory and the warehouse," said Grzegorz Kowalczewski, director of the Mars Wrigley factory in Poznań.

"The infrastructure and services provided at the new facility meet customer expectations.
Today we can boast the most modern solutions in the region, thanks to which the goods of our service recipients are safe," adds Lucyna Zaborowska-Princ.

Raben is making new investments, distinguished by high quality and modern solutions, to optimize its own and its customers' processes. Thanks to them, the company has the ability to carry out transshipments faster, reduce the risk of damage and even better control of goods, which ensures the safety of products entrusted to the company by its customers and the building of a competitive advantage not only for the logistics operator, but, above all, for its business partners.
