On June 31, the results of the 16th edition of the Ranking of Responsible Companies were announced, which evaluates companies from the perspective of implementing selected ESG areas. Raben Group once again took second place in the “transport, logistics, services” category, and ninth place overall.
The Ranking of Responsible Companies, published for the first time in 2007, is the only list of companies operating in Poland assessed in terms of the quality of corporate social responsibility (CSR) management. More than 70 companies took part in this year's Ranking and more than 100 companies expressed interest in it. In the end, more than 60 companies qualified for the main ranking.
Environmental responsibility and the closest environment are our priorities. Therefore, being among the most responsible companies is a great honour for us. However, we realize that there are still a lot of challenges ahead of us, as well as the entire transport industry. Therefore, we will not cease in our efforts to be equally active in the spirit of sustainable development in the years to come” - says Ewelina Jablonska-Gryżenia, head of sustainability
Responsibility for the environment and the community is one of Raben Group's strategic and operational priorities. In an effort to create a framework to effectively manage this area, a new sustainability strategy was formulated in 2021, based on three pillars: responsible organization, social impact and environmental protection.
In carrying out the commitments and goals inscribed in it, Raben Group aims, among other things, to reduce emissions both in transport and from the maintenance of warehouse infrastructure and buildings, with the goal of ultimately achieving climate neutrality in 2050. To this end, a seven-year PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) was signed in 2021 with a power supplier in Poland, which will provide 100% green energy from dedicated photovoltaic farms at all of the company's facilities in Poland starting in 2023. In addition, Raben Group's fleet is being systematically modernized to reduce the share of trucks with combustion standards below EURO 5 as a first step.
To raise the level of ambition and confirm that Raben Group's actions indeed support the achievement of the climate goals formulated in the Paris Agreement, a letter of intent was signed in 2021 as part of the SBTi initiative, a commitment to set reduction targets and subject them to external verification. This process is scheduled to be completed in 2022.
The partner of the RRC is the Responsible Business Forum. The substantive partner responsible for the review of responses is Deloitte, while the media partner is Dziennik Gazeta Prawna. The ranking is prepared by Prof. Bolesław Rok of Entrepreneurship and Positive Impact Research Centre at Koźmiński University and Jarosław Horodecki, an analyst.
In total, since the first edition, close to 250 largest companies operating on the Polish market have already participated in the Ranking of Responsible Companies. The ranking makes it possible to compare results in particular areas of CSR between companies and it is a valuable instrument facilitating the organization and development of corporate responsibility strategies.
