Sports spirit of aid

2019.02.20
On Thursday, February 14, hearts beat faster not only in the chests of lovers but also amateur footballers from Raben Group who took part in the Game of Big Hearts. The company was a patron of a charity event combining a football tournament with an auction, during which almost PLN 10,000 was collected for the Foundation for Helping Children with Cancer Diseases.

Valentine's Day is a good opportunity to show your love for the closest person, but also to show your heart to others - sometimes people you don’t know but who need help. This was the purpose of a charity event organized at the initiative of “Głos Wielkopolski” in the PLEK sports center in Poznań. The team of journalists and their friends competed against the team of Lech Poznan veterans and the team of Businessmen with Hearts, which was combined of employees of companies from the region, including Raben Group. The latter were literally everywhere - Jakub Krzewina, the CSR Coordinator at Raben Group, played not only in his home team, but also joined the ranks of Lech Poznan veterans. Thanks to two such spontaneous transfers, the Game of Big Harts turned into a real tournament. Raben Group in the tournament was also represented by: Michał Mońka, Przemysław Śliwiński and Paweł Talkowski.

The sports emotions were accompanied by the auction of works created by the charges of the Foundation for Helping Children with Cancer Diseases, during which almost PLN 10,000 was collected. This amount will be a huge support for the Foundation and the children it helps.

Raben Group has over 40 branches throughout Poland and we care about maintaining good relationships with local communities. And what if you can build them by supporting charity organizations important for the region and take care of your own health at the same time? For me personally there is nothing better than “helping by kicking the ball”!” – comments Jakub Krzewina. - “Not only did I do something that I like very much, but I could do it with my friends, whom I value very much, and I also gave some hope to those for whom carefree joy is not so obvious.”

Participation in the Game of Big Hearts is not the first time that employees of Raben Group help through sports - sometimes they are grassroots initiatives, implemented on a smaller, local scale, but often the example goes from the very top. In autumn 2018, on the occasion of celebrating his 50th birthday, the CEO of Raben Group organized a cycling expedition through the Alps, for which he invited nine of his friends and associates who share his passion for mountain routes. The purpose of the Halfway Alp Tour was to raise funds for development of infrastructure and promotion of hygiene among children in Ukraine. Anyone who wished Happy Birthday to Ewald Raben could become a donor, because instead of presents, he decided to support a charity event for Ukrainian pupils. In total, EUR 30,000 was collected, which were transferred to the Polish Humanitarian Organization.
