#RabenExpress is a campaign based on influencer marketing. Its formula is really simple, a truck driver takes a known influencer on a trip. This time, Rafał Gębura from 7 meters underground accompanies Jakub on the road. The aim of the action was to the route of food saved from waste.
“In the latest version of our #RabenExpress action, we decided to support the Food Banks by showing the path of the saved food donors to people in need. And at the same time, we wanted to promote the “Wishing-Table”, whose aim is to collect funds for the transport of this food. PLN 1 allows Food Banks to save 8 kg of food products, from which you can prepare up to 16 meals.” – says Klaudyna Polanowska-Skrzypek, PR Manager Raben Group.
Our heroes collected the food donated by Makro and transported it to the Wielkopolski Food Bank, where volunteers and employees of the organization were awaiting them. The food was unpacked, sorted and some of it went back to the Raben truck. The last, most pleasant phase of this trip was delivering the shipment from the Bank Żywności to the Youth Centre in Poznań.
Raben Group has decided to invite Rafał Gebura to this unique version of #RabenExpress because of his social engagement. After all , the 7 meters underground channel and its host are famous for their openness to other people and seeking good in them. In the video on the 7 meters underground channel, Rafał talks about the paradox of wasting food. It turns out that the products most often thrown away are: bread, fruit, cold meats and vegetables. Meanwhile 1.6 m Poles live under extreme poverty.
“I hate to throw away food. A donation to a Food Banks is like a pill against remorse. It's best to take it regularly.” - explains Rafał Gębura from 7 meters underground.
As part of #RabenExpress, Rafał shows the route from the donor (Makro), through the Food Bank warehouse, to the hands of the people in need (Youth Centre in Poznań), while emphasizing the role of the truck driver and transport in the modern world. He also talks about the history of the Food Banks and encourages people to support the “Wishing-Table” campaign.
Food Banks receive food free of charge from producers, retail chains and restaurants. However, they need funds for transport and storage of food because transports are not always carried out free of charge, as it is with Raben Group.
“As a logistics operator, also providing services the FMCG sector, we support and promote responsible consumption. That is why, in 2015, we started cooperation with the Federation of Polish Food Banks. These years have resulted in 12,000 pallets transported for charity, 7,000 t of saved food and 3 million distributed meals. We also encourage our customers to donate their products for this noble purpose.” – explains Jakub Krzewina, Group CSR Coordinator in Raben Group.
Food products collected by Food Banks for charity include, among others, fresh food and products which require controlled temperature. Often however, there are also products with short best-before dates. That is what makes the delivery time so important as it allows for transporting food to the people who need it in the shortest possible time. Thanks to the logistics support from Raben Group, Food Banks are able to more efficiently acquire food which hasn't been sold and which is still before the sell-by date. Products which have even two days to the BB-date can find their way of the table and feed many hungry people.
Assisting us in food transports, Raben Group supports us in bridging two extreme worlds. The world of excess food and the world in which food is scarce, and where an empty plate for many Poles is still commonplace. There are many people in need in our country. These are not only homeless people, but also those who face daily choices whether to buy food, medicines or pay bills. We have valuable food for them, which we obtain from overproduction and surpluses in stores. The limitation and challenge for us, however, are still the costs of transport and storage, which we must bear alone. In order to fill these empty plates and tables of many people in Poland, we are currently running the campaign called the “Wishing-Table” in which, through deposits on the website, we obtain funds for the Bank's operations during the year, including for the cost of transport and storage. We are happy that the campaign is also supported by Raben Group” - emphasizes Dorota Jezierska, Vice President of the Federation of Polish Food Banks.
That is why, Rafał uses his channel to campaign for the support of Food Banks donations, which can be done through the website http://bankizywnosci.pl. Each penny counts!
