Food Banks and Raben Group summarise 100 days of cooperation - the outcome is almost 3,000 pallets with food protected from waste and handed over to people in need.
Raben Group offered assistance to Food Banks in transport of food. Food products collected by Food Banks for charity include among others fresh food and products which require controlled temperature.  Raben Group also supported Food Banks in the transport of products donated by food companies like Bakalland, Zbyszko or Nutricia.  Since July Poland has been witnessing a great charity drive. Trucks filled with food which could go to waste quickly and, most importantly, safely get to those who need it the most. We are happy that together with Raben Group we will make a social change; it is a great example of corporate social responsibility. The value of the support is tremendous - almost PLN 300,000! Food Banks are non-profit, non-governmental organisations.   This support is priceless and it helps us to accomplish our mission - says Marek Borowski, President of the Board of the Federation of Polish Food Banks. As a logistics operator which also serves the FMCG sector, we are determined to eliminate poverty and hunger. In order to accomplish this objective, we have started cooperation with the Polish Federation of Food Banks. Thanks to the logistics support from Raben Group, Food Banks are able to more efficiently acquire food from supermarkets which hasn't been sold and which is still before the sell-by date.  Products even with 2-day BB period can be very quickly delivered to the people in need. All Raben Group companies in Poland have been engaged in the cooperation since the products transported for Food Banks require different transport conditions. For instance, Fresh Logistics will be transporting goods which require temperature from 0 to 6 degrees Celsius. The next step of the initiative will be the action targeting Raben Group Customers to raise their awareness of the possibility to donate goods which we will transport free of charge in the course of our cooperation with Food Banks. Perhaps the Polish Parliament will soon draft a similar Bill to which was adopted in France. If that happens, we will be ready to serve our Customers in this area. In this way, the cooperation with Food Banks is building our competitive advantage. We are helping Food Banks to save food against wastage using our competencies - planning the optimal supply chain and the high-quality transport services - comments Marta Szymborska, CSR Leader in Raben Group.
