Innovation Code in Raben Group

2018.11.16
On November 15, 2018, at the Innovation Code conference, GS1 Polska, part of a global organization operating in 150 countries around the world, awarded prizes to organizations which have used GS1 standards to improve their efficiency. The Innovation Code statuettes were awarded in 4 categories: retail, e-commerce, TFL and health care. Raben Group triumphed twice during the award ceremony.

In this year’s and simultaneously the first edition of the Innovation Code contest, Raben Logistics Polska received an award in the transport-forwarding-logistics category. Receiving the statuette, Edyta Staszczyk, Operations Support Manager, Raben Logistics Polska, and Krzysztof Garstecki, IT Manager of the EDI team, Raben Management Services, stressed the importance of cooperation between “operations and business” in such a complicated implementation.

Raben Group also received an audience award. Over 1,600 people voted for the best implementation of GS1 standards in their opinion. The consequent audience award went to Fresh Logistics Polska for an innovative solution consisting of automatic delivery advice (EDI) to individual Jeronimo Martins Polska centres (Biedronka chain) after the physical loading of the goods for the given route. In this way, it was possible to simplify processes, facilitate their registration and increase the data reliability. The statuette was collected by Marek Kwiatkowski, Operations Manager at Fresh Logistics Polska and Łukasz Staszak, Key Account Manager, Fresh Logistics Polska.

Grzegorz Szyszka, PhD, a long-standing Director of the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing in Poznań, an expert in the field of TFL, justifies the choice of the jury in the category of transport and logistics:

“The project of implementing the global GS1XML information exchange standard at Raben, the largest logistics operator in Poland, is distinguished by a comprehensive and professional approach to the digitization of transport and storage processes. It was implemented starting from stocktaking, mapping and simplifying logistics processes, through the development of electronic documents and a unified interface for exchanging data with customers, to preparing business partners for electronic data interchange in the GS1XML standard. Such a methodical approach resulted in successful implementation without paper communication both within the company and with external recipients of services provided by Raben. The awarded implementation should be an inspiration for other companies from the TFL sector to use similar solutions.”
