How to dance with pallets safely?

2015.09.10
Safety of warehouses work has paramount importance for logistics companies. Studies show that the majority of accidents which occur during warehouse operations are caused by improper behaviours of workers [1]. This means that major pressure should be put on raising awareness among e.g. fork lift operators of the significance of the appropriate, standard-compliant behaviour of people employed in the warehouse.
In order to promote safe behaviours in the warehouse, Raben Group has been organizing a contest Dances with Pallets in all its warehouses in Poland since 2014. The action aims at promoting precision and skills and eliminating risky practices, such as speeding. The contest consists of two parts: a theoretical workshop which focuses on presenting good practices and desired behaviours, and a practical component during which fork lift operators navigate a route with obstacles which test their precision.  "Warehouse workers are a key element of our chain of values. We care for their safety in many ways. However the contest Dances with Pallets is the icing on the cake which selects and recognizes those who put safety first" – comments Marta Szymborska, PR and CSR Manager in Raben Group. The winners of the 2nd Polish edition of the contest are: 1st place Dominik Tomczyk  from the warehouse in Stryków
2nd place Grzegorz Olejniczak  from the warehouse in Stryków
3rd place Krzysztof Czarnecki  from the warehouse in Gądki   Awards to the best fork lift operators were presented by Janusz Anioł, General Director of Raben Polska, and Wiesław Majtas, member of the Board of EPAL, which was a partner of this year's edition of the contest."The question of safety in the warehouse is very important for us. In STILL Safety Academy we are promoting safe work on fork lifts and we make companies aware that decreased number of incidents positively influences the work comfort of operators and the equipment maintenance costs. We are glad that together with Raben Group we are able to cooperate on the second edition of the contest Dances with Pallets" – explains Paweł Włuka, Marketing Manager, Still Polska. This year the final of the contest attracted trade journalists who closely observed the rivalry and supported the most precise fork lift operators.[1]  http://mojafirma.infor.pl/moto/logistyka/magazynowanie/675098,Przyczyny-wypadkow-w-magazynach.html
