Charity flea market in Raben Group

2018.03.22
Spring is already here so it's time to take a critical look at your wardrobe and to clean the garage. It is more than likely that you will find many seemingly useless things there. You may throw them away obviously, but you can also give them a second life and support a good cause at the same time Bring, buy and help - this is the essence of the flea market organized by Raben Group volunteers already for the third time.

The charity flea market has been organised by Raben Group employees since 2016.  The idea behind it is brilliantly simple. Just bring some clothes or other things you no longer need, set the price and give them to the volunteers who will handle the sale.  You can also show up, do shopping and in this way support the charity cause.

“The Raben flea market is not just an easy way to recycle clothes and other objects. Above all, it is a grassroot initiative of employees-volunteers which is organized for a noble purpose. For every edition the organizers of the initiative select a person or an organization that will receive help in the form of money collected during the action. Our employees have hearts in the right place and they do it because they simply want to help others.”  – explains Jakub Krzewina, CSR Coordinator, Raben Group, and he adds – “This year all the collected money was donated for treatment and rehabilitation of Bartek from Środa Wielkopolska.”

The flea market traditionally offered the selection of clothes, accessories like handbags and scarves, toys, baby clothes, CDs, DVDs, books and bicycle gadgets.

“This event is a triple pleasure! First of all, you can bring here some things you no longer want and give them a new life. Second of all, you can find some fantastic clothes and change you image in the spring. Finally and most importantly, all this is done for a good cause so you never feel guilt about spending money!” – one of the event organizers, Magdalena Jahns, CSR Coordinator in Raben Transport, summarizes the initiative.

What happens with things which haven’t found a new owner during the flea market? At the end of the day each donor can pick up their unsold things. If, however, they decide to leave them behind - the idea is that nothing goes to waste - the organizers donate the things to the local orphanage.

The spring edition of the charity flea market 2018 took place on March 21, between 10:00 and 16:00, in the Raben depot in Gądki. Bartek will receive PLN 2,527 collected on that day. During all editions of the event, our employees collected more than PLN 6,300 which was later donated for charity.

On behalf of employees-volunteers, big thank you to all the participants!
