On April 1, 2016, Raben Group celebrates the 25th anniversary of operations on the Polish market. Also this year we are celebrating the 85th anniversary of services in Europe. The history of Raben Group dates back to the grandfather of the current CEO who set up a transport company in 1931. In the 1960s, when the father the current CEO was in charge of the company, Raben Group was expanding, among others, the transport of textiles to and from Poland. In the 80s, Ewald Raben worked as a driver in the family business and that is how he got to know Poland better. That is why, in 1990, being a freshman at the faculty of transport, he came to Poland to open a Raben branch. It was then when he bought a map of Poland and marked twelve locations which were to become branches in different parts of the country. "Our company, first located in Baranowo near Poznań, employed 12 people. We had only one warehouse leased from the Automotive Works in Poznań. In 1993, we started the construction of our first own warehouse in Gądki near Poznań" recollects Ewald Raben, CEO Raben Group.Today, the map of Poland displays almost 50 depots of Raben Group.
Every day 4,700 of employees fulfils the vision of Raben Group which is being the leader everywhere we are. Customers in Poland can use over 500,000 square meters of modern warehouse capacity and the growing fleet which currently has 6,000 vehicles in Europe. Just last year we started using 100 new low-emission Mercedes tractors compliant with the strict EURO6 environmental standard. "25 years on the Polish market and 85 years in Europe is a time for reflection and remembrance. I am still surrounded by people who trusted a young Dutchman 25 year ago and believed that he would be able to build an international logistics business. During the years more passionate people joined us and they are greatly engaged in building the Raben brand. And this is what I consider my greatest success. Today, when I think about the beginnings of Raben Group and its history I feel ever greater responsibility for my decisions. I am accountable for them not only with my name, but also with the reputation of three generations of the Raben family. I'm convinced that I'm just one of the CEOs in the long history of Raben company because I believe that there is still much ahead of us..." - summarizes Ewald Raben, CEO Raben Group.[1]
